Baptist Health Hardin’s Emergency Department is one of Kentucky’s busiest emergency departments and sees over 70,000 patients a year. Of those patients, more than 1,000 are pediatric patients seen each month.
Pediatric patients demand a unique type of care and Baptist Health Hardin is committed to providing them the important services they need.
“Visiting the emergency department can be a frightening ordeal for a child,” Foundation Board Chairman Joe Prather said. “The Foundation works to ensure these precious children receive care in the most comforting setting possible.”

WHAS Crusade for Children
The WHAS Crusade for Children has been a generous supporter of the Emergency Department. The organization funded the ThermaCor 1200 which warms fluids and safely administered them with a pressure bag.
The Honorable Kentucky Colonels
The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels (HOKC) awarded the Foundation a grant of $5,803 to improve pediatric patients’ experiences when receiving care in the Baptist Health Hardin Emergency Department. The funds provided iPads and Star Sky Rotating Cosmos projectors that the emergency department team can use as distraction tools to help ease children’s fear and pain.
